Cette publication a été réalisée à l'occasion de l'exposition Fuck Architects : chapitre III de l'artiste marocain mounir fatmi, au FRAC Alsace, Séléstat, du 5 février au 17 mai 2009.
Fuck Architects III est le troisième et dernier chapitre d'un corpus commencé en 2007, centré sur l'architecture comme révélateur d'enjeux esthétiques, politiques, économiques et religieux.
Pour mounir fatmi, l'architecture sert de mesure de la modernité et de ses utopies, de leurs triomphes et de leurs échecs, et elle s'adresse autant à la construction qu'à la déconstruction. C'est un matériau d'écriture et de pensée, au même titre que la littérature et la philosophie.
À l'heure où les stratégies économiques du post-capitalisme s'inspirent d'anciens traités de guerre, mounir fatmi nous invite à considérer les philosophes occidentaux comme les architectes et les meneurs d'un chantier, abandonné ou suspendu.

Fuck architects III is the third and final chapter of a body of work begun in 2007, centered on architecture as an indicator of aesthetic, political, economic, and religious stakes.
For mounir fatmi, architecture serves as a measure of modernity and its utopias, their triumphs and their failures, and it speaks as much to construction as it does to deconstruction. It is a material for writing and thought, much like literature and philosophy.
At a time when the economic strategies of post-capitalism are inspired by ancient war treaties, mounir fatmi invites us to see Western philosophers as architects and leaders of a construction site, abandoned or suspended.
