Artiste aux multiples facettes, Mounir Fatmi (Tanger, Maroc, 1970) se réfère en permanence à des questions d'actualité telles que l'identité, le multiculturalisme, l'ambiguïté du pouvoir et de la violence. Au fil des années, il a su se renouveler constamment, explorant une variété de langages stylistiques allant de la vidéo à l'installation, de la photographie à la performance. C'est un parcours narratif qui non seulement confirme une capacité lexicale remarquable, mais mêle aussi des ingrédients personnels à des témoignages de réalité, retraçant des passages importants de l'histoire contemporaine.
L'exposition de Milan, intitulée « Transition Etat », retrace les caractéristiques de sa grande synthèse poétique, en se concentrant sur le concept de « hybridation culturelle », une combinaison d'idées préconçues et les stéréotypes révélés, puis discrédité, qui renforcent une vision d ' ensemble construit sur le dialogue entre la religion, la science, les ambivalences du langage et combien ceux-ci sont transformés au cours de l'histoire.
Très connu internationalement, Mounir Fatmi fait partie des protagonistes de la Biennale de Venise 2017 avec une double participation au Pavillon tunisien, dans le cadre de l'exposition "L'Absence de Chemins", et au Pavillon d'Etat NSK. Appelés à exposer dans des musées prestigieux comme le Centre Georges Pompidou, le Musée de Brooklyn, le Victoria & Albert Museum, le musée d'art Mori à Tokyo, ou le MAXXI à Rome, son travail est inclus dans les grandes collections publiques telles que celles du Musée Stedelijk Amsterdam, la Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la création à Paris ou le Mathaf, Musée Arabe d'Art Moderne de Doha.

Over the years, he has been able to constantly renew himself, exploring a variety of stylistic languages ranging from video to installation, from photography to performance. It is a narrative journey that not only confirms a remarkable lexical ability, but also mixes personal ingredients with testimonials of reality, retracing important passages from contemporary history.
The Milan exhibition, titled "Transition State", traces the characteristics of its great poetic synthesis, focusing on the concept of "cultural hybridization", a combination of preconceived ideas and stereotypes revealed, then discredited, that reinforce a an overall vision built on the dialogue between religion, science, the ambivalence of language and how much it is transformed in the course of history.
Known internationally, Mounir Fatmi is one of the protagonists of the Venice Biennale in 2017 with a double participation Tunisian Pavilion, as part of the exhibition "The Absence of Paths", and the State Pavilion NSK.
