mounir fatmi construit des espaces et des jeux de langage qui libèrent
tout particulièrement la parole de ceux qui les regardent.
Ses vidéos, installations, dessins, peintures ou sculptures
mettent au jour nos ambiguïtés, nos doutes, nos peurs,
nos désirs. Ils pointent l’actuel de notre monde, ce qui
survient dans l’accident et révèle la structure,
ils désignent nos critères et nos symptômes.
Son regard sur le monde devient notre regard : l’hyper-densité
du flux continu d’informations qui nous travers tisse un réseau
entre transparence et malentendu.
Le travail de mounir fatmi a été montré au Migros
Museum für Gegenwarskunst, Zürich, au Museum Kunst Palast,
Düsseldorf, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, et au Mori
Art Museum de Tokyo. Il a participé à la 5eme Bienniale
de Gwangju, et la 2ème Biennale de Seville.
En 2006, il reçoit le Grand Prix Léopold Sédar
Senghor,
la plus haute récompense de la 7ème biennale de Dakar.
En 2007 son travail à été sélectionné
à la 1ère Triennal de Luanda à la 8ème
biennale de Sharjah, ainsi qu’à la 52ème biennale
de Venise.

mounir fatmi constructs visual spaces and linguistic games that aim
to free the viewer from their preconceptions of politics and religion,
and allows them to contemplate these and other subjects in new ways.
His videos, installations, drawings, paintings and sculptures bring
to light our doubts, fears and desires.
They directly address the current events of our world, and serve to
both clarify the origins and symptoms of global issues, as well as
speak to those whose lives are affected by specific events.
mounir fatmi’s work has been exhibited in the Migros Museum für Gegenwarskunst, Zürich, the Museum Kunst Palast, Düsseldorf,
Germany, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, and the Mori Art Museum
in Tokyo. He also recently participated in the Gwangju Biennial, and
the 2nd Seville Biennial.
In 2006 he was awarded the Grand Prize at the 7th Dakar Biennial,
and his work will be included in the 2007 1st Luanda Triennial, 8th
biennial of Sharjah and the 52nd biennial of Venice.
